We had our first Steering Committee Meeting yesterday 2/13/09, ALL subcommittees will start meeting, so be aware of the committee you signed up for, who's in charge of that meeting and all assignments stemming from those committees!! As usual, we need ALL participation for this event to work right!!!

Any sponsors that members are able to get for Sassy Setting & Such need to be mailed to: Lake Murray Sisters in Service, PO Box 64, Ballentine, SC 29002. This expedites the accounting and processing of the deposits/thank you letters/ and tax receipts. Karen L has publicity packets for those who would like to use them as tools to get more sponsors!! I (Beth Allen) can be reached at ballen1046@gmail.com for any further questions.

We will be able to accept credit cards for tickets and at the event that night, more to follow about ticket purchases in your in boxes (either snail mail or e-mail)

Back In Business

For a long time the powers that be in the computer world locked me out of this blog. Somehow, someway I have been able to get back in, with the help of my husband and a lot of screaming!!

So, here goes the new schedule for 2009

Executive Committee meets 1st Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. @ Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. From that meeting Committee Chairs will assign separate meetings. Look for postings of new meetings either here or by telephone or snail mail.

SASSY SETTINGS & SUCH
Scheduled for April 27, at Saluda Shoals.
Donna P - Chairperson (last name omitted due to world-wide posting)

MANY meetings getting ready to happen up until the day of the event, stay posted!!

Lowman Home Volunteer Events
Still working on the calendar. The response has been great, therefore we might have several different groups meeting different times, again - stay posted.

Auction Baskets

You should be receiving your Reminder Cards for the SIS Fall Spectacular in the next day or so. Be sure to find a special spot for them on your refrigerator and mark your calendar to be there. Between now and then, we need to create 15 - 16 theme baskets for auction at the event. (This is the part of the evening that brings in the most money, so they are VERY important). If two (2) or three (3) or more members get together to do a basket the cost to each individual will be minimal. These are really fun to do and don't take a lot of time. I am enclosing some suggestions for themes, some of which we have done before and they have done well in the past: Boat and Car (emergency kits, washing supplies, maintenance supplies) Boat and Fishing Items Computer/Office Supplies Poker/Game Night Handyman Items (nails, screws, small tools, neat and unusual gadgets, etc.) Pet Supplies Gardening Tools and Supplies Golf Items Gourmet Wine, Foods and Cheese Wii Games Scrapbooking/Arts and Crafts Supplies Knitting Supplies Martini Party Supplies Lake Murray theme Items Spa Items Christmas/Thanksgiving Clemson/USC Tailgate Kitchen Gadgets Bar-B-Que Basics These are not intended to be all-inclusive, so feel free to come up with your own themes. Something new this year - WE ARE GOING TO TAKE CREDIT CARDS FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THIS EVENT. Clara R is going to head up the basket drive, so if you have questions call her at home number. If you decide to do a basket, please call her or e-mail me at LakeMurraySIS@aol.com to let us know what your theme is. It will help us avoid a lot of duplication. If you do not want to do a basket, but have some items that could be used, or would be willing to contribute toward basket purchases, please let Clara or me know. Checks should be made out to Lake Murray Sisters in Service and mailed to me at PO Box 64, Ballentine, S.C., 29002

We Are In Print!!

The Sept Issue of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine is out (in very few locations) on newsstands now. The Magazine's Web-site says they are out in all the Books A Million locations, Earth Fare, Happy Bookseller, Marriott Hotel (1200 Hampton St.)and St. Andrews Newsstand. The article is great and will give us some great street credibility down the line!!! Many members have tried finding copies high and low, finally, my husband found one at the Marriott downtown (close to his office, sort of). Some subscribers to the State Paper receive the magazine for free, so save your copies. We need a few for scrapbooks, website, display purposes for events and fundraisers. Thanks Ladies, and happy reading!
