Calling All Shoppers!

Ladies,

If you just LOVE to shop, we have some opportunities for you. We need some shoppers to help us give some of our client families a better Christmas. You can be reimbursed up to $100.00 per person that you choose to help. If you are interested, please call Clara Reynolds at 749-4089 or e-mail her at ClarabelleR@aol.com. She will hook you up with one of the Case Managers handling our current caseload who will assign you a person or persons to shop for.

Thanks so much for your help during this busy time of the year. Hope everyone has a very merry and blessed Christmas.
Remember, if you are looking for a charity to donate to during this time, Lake Murray SIS could use your help.

In His Name,
Dolly

Lake Murray Ornaments and Case Managers

Ladies,

Joyce Bartman asked me to let you know that our second shipment of Lake Murray SIS Christmas ornaments has arrived. She has them and you can reach her at 932-4631 or JoyceBman@aol.com. There are a limited number, so if you are interested, get in touch with her fairly quickly.

Just for information, we are really working with some needy cases right now. They are going to be with us for a little while, so we have decided that they will be the recipients of our Christmas project this year. I don't know who will be coordinating that effort yet (any volunteers?), but I will let you know right after Thanksgiving. We will need some volunteer shoppers. My point in telling you this is to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and ask you to remember our families in your prayers. They need them very badly!

I hope that some of you will seriously consider over the holidays becoming Case Managers next year. We do not have enough Case Managers, so several of us have more than one case at a time. I am working on lots of good written material that will help you in your effort and am considering a training for case managers to help you feel more secure in the role. You will not believe how rewarding it is to be the one who gets the teary bear hug and the big heartfelt thank you when the goal is reached or when they realize that help really is on the way!

Fall PIG OUT

Ladies,

Thank you to all of you who attended last week's Membership meeting. We had a very productive meeting and had a good time too.

For those of you who could not attend, I need to make you aware of a couple of things:

1. PIG OUT TICKETS (Oct. 21st is the date) are available now. Della Griffith has them and she can be reached at 345-1138 or at dvgriffith@aol.com. The date is coming up quickly and we need to sell as many tickets as possible. If everybody would take 4 tickets, our attendance would double! they are $20.00 each and include BBQ, all the trimmings, dessert, wine and soft drinks. GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!

2. If you are interested in doing a Theme Basket for the Silent Auction, please let Kathy Giles know what your theme will be. She can be reached at 781-7641 or KatKGiles@aol.com.

2. CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT - We now have a sample of the Lake Murray Christmas ornament that we are selling as a fundraiser. It will be on display at the PIG OUT and can be ordered then to get here in time for Christmas. We may even have a number of them there for sale if they arrive in time. They are $20.00 and GORGEOUS. I have attached a picture of it. If you would like to order one or more before the PIG OUT, call Joyce Bartman or e-mail her at JoyceBman@aol.com.

SEE YOU AT THE PIG OUT on Sunday, the 21st!

Membership Meeting October 2, 2007

Just had a great Membership Meeting this Tuesday Evening, the meetings from that meeting will post shortly. We had a fair turnout, maybe we were busy, maybe we weren't aware of the meeting?? The Executive Committee is trying very hard to make sure SIS members are aware of our schedule. We try very hard to reach all - either by snail mail, e-mail, our phone committee and our blog. So if you don't know the future events or haven't heard what happened last year maybe, please locate a member of the Executive Committee and we will make sure we have your contact info.
Thank you, Beth Allen Secretary for Lake Murray Sisters In Service

Lowman Birthday Parties

If you haven't been to a birthday party at the Lowman Home (3rd Thursday of every month, 2:00) you are missing out!! See pics below!

Cake, ice cream, games and music. It all lasts about 1 hour (the residents limit) a great time is had by all.

A helper during the Birthday Parties, India Dicus. She was very gentle with the residents, soft, they all said she reminded them of a Teddy Bear. She does!! She has the sweetest face!! Thanks India for helping!!

The Birthday People all get a balloon and a card is mailed to them from SIS set to arrive on the day of their Birthday! SIS has been doing these Birthdays long enough now that the residents remember us and they really interact with us now!! Great job Jackie Yarborough, the chair person and to all the members that help each month! Come next month and enjoy the fun too!!

A New Era

SIS is attempting to stay in step with the times!
Our group has grown to a size where communication is a problem, at times. We are going to use this blog as a form of communication. If at any time a member has ideas or message, use the comment area at the end of each entry to voice your thoughts. Since we just finished our Spring Fundraiser, Sassy Settings, I've included some pictures from that night, as our starting point. Look for new entries at least twice a month! Enjoy!
